How we check

People use this to find food, shelter and care. A wrong phone number or a closed door costs them a trip, so we hold every listing to the same rules.

What goes on a page

A listing appears only after we match its phone number and its address or hours to the organization's own website or page, or to an official source such as a housing authority list or a state program locator. Pantry details also come from the East Texas Food Bank's public Find Food map, which lists the partner pantries it supplies.

What we leave off

If we cannot confirm a place, we do not list it. If the sources disagree about an hour or an address, we list what we can confirm and mark the listing call first. We also do not publish the home addresses of shelters or the names of private people.

The date on every listing

Each listing shows the day we last checked it. Hours change, especially for church pantries that run on the first or third week of the month. If the date looks old, call before you go.

Corrections from the community

Anyone can suggest an update or add a listing. Nothing a visitor sends goes live by itself. We check it against the organization's own page, or contact the organization, and then change the page.

About the map

The county, neighboring county and lake outlines come from the U.S. Census Bureau. Pins are placed from street addresses and are for orientation only. The address written on each card is the one to trust.

What we are not

We are an independent directory. We are not a government agency, we are not 2-1-1, and a listing does not mean an organization must accept you. In an emergency call 911. If you are thinking about hurting yourself, call or text 988.

Ads and money

Listings are not for sale. Nobody pays to be listed, to move up, or to get a checked date. Every listing follows the rules above.

Some pages show an ad. It is always marked Advertisement. It sits below the listings and never between them, and it never appears on crisis, safety, shelter or recovery pages. Right now the ads are for other sites and apps we also publish. If outside advertisers are added later, they will be marked the same way and will never change which listings appear or in what order.
